Despite what one might think, making the transition from successful Executive to successful Entrepreneur is a deeply transformational process which can be short-circuited if you have the right mindset and are willing to go within and face your fears.
Here are my top 6 tips:
1. Be Authentic:
It is far easier to hide behind the branding of an established business than expressing yourself authentically in your own. To be authentic means that you show up as you really are, warts and all, without fear of judgement (your own or others).
You are unique and deserve to be here just as much as the next person and what people think about you, really has very little to do with you (people filter all external information through their own world view (their perceived reality), so depending on their conditioning, thoughts, beliefs, experiences and own actions, will view you through their unique tinted glasses.
Like–minded people who resonate with your authentic message will naturally be drawn to you and are your ideal clients. Other people, who do not share your view of the world, will not resonate with your offering, will never become your clients and therefore are not relevant to your business.
This point alone can take years to break through and you will know you are there, when you stop trying to manage other people’s judgements.
2. Knowing your own self worth:
Become aware of your value by asking yourself what the most consistent positive feedback that you get from friends, family and clients is? It might be that you are very intuitive, a great listener or that people feel inspired by you. Know that this is your super power!
Our innate gift are often hard to spot as a super power as it is the one thing that is natural and easy for us to do so we assume that a) every-one can do it or b) its nothing special.
Once you know what your gifts are, you can successfully build your business around these strengths.
3. Align yourself to your business as you take consistent action:
The more congruent you are with your business, the more you will attract the financial and lifestyle results you desire.
Your business is a reflection of you and depending on how clear you are on what your business is really about, who your ideal client is and your level of confidence in your delivery, the results (or lack thereof) will show up in your bank account.
As you take action, measure your results and continuously fine tweak your marketing, products and delivery until you feel your business is a complete reflection of who you are.
4. Take responsibility for every aspect of your business:
When you avoid the aspects of your business you hate doing, your business will limp in that area – crying out for your attention. So, willingly learn all the skills your need until you are able to effectively do all aspects yourself – from product development to finance; sales to after sales service etc.
Once you are able and willing to do all aspects of your business, you may choose to outsource or delegate the area of responsibility to staff, whist continuing to take overall responsibility. When you get to this stage, find specialists who are more competent than you are in these areas and continue to learn from them.
5. Convert fear into courage:
Fear is excitement without breath and will come up every time you step out of your comfort zone. So, remind yourself constantly that you have the potential within you or you wouldn’t feel the drive to achieve your goals.
When you willingly feel the fear and do it any way, know that it is inevitable that you will break through if you stay the course. It helps to remember that nothing ever gets thrown at you and that you can’t handle.
6. Work with a coach:
If you want to achieve real results, this one is a no-brainer. It is almost impossible to work through our own blocks and obstacles alone as we all have our blind spots. When you are ready to make the changes you desire, choose a coach who has made the transition in their life that you are looking to make in your own.
